Jive experienced a fiber outage between two of our Chicago-area datacenters. This should have been handled gracefully by system redundancy (Jive has five BGP network connections with four real fiber connections into those two separate data centers). However, because of a vendor bug in the network equipment used to manage that redundancy, failover did not properly occur.
Jive is addressing this with the vendor and making additional short-term preventative measures. Jive is also adding more vendors for additional long-term stability.
